Karsha Monastery (Karsha Gompa) is a Buddhist monastery that located in Padum valley of the Zansakar Region in J&K. The Gompa is also known by the name of Karsha Chamspaling. It is the most largest and important Buddhist shrine of the Zanskar region. This monastery was founded by Phagspa Shesrab, a translator, under the Yellow Hat sects of the Tibetan Buddhism. It houses a number of shrines and some of the most beautiful paintings and bone relics of Dorje Rinchen. The monastery is residence of 100 monks. The Gustor Festival is celebrated annually at the gompa on the 28th and 29th day of the sixth month of the Tibetan calendar.
