Tso Moriri is a placid lake surrounded by brown barren hills with a backdrop of snow capped mountains. This beautiful high altitude lake is situated in Changthan area of Rupshu valley at an altitude of 15,075 feet. The lake is considered to be the largest of the high altitude lakes in Trans Himalayas, entirely within India. At a distance of 250 km (155 miles) southeast of Leh town, the serene lake Tso Moriri approximately 29 km (18 miles) long and 8 km (5 miles) wide. It is situated slightly off the Leh- Manali Road in Rupshu valley and hence, tourists can plan a visit to this stunning lake while a journey to Leh.
