Sheesh Mahal

Sheesh Mahal of Ramnagar is a historical royal mansion of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located just adjacent to Ramnagar Fort in Ramnagar of Udhampur district. It was built by then king, Raja Ram Singh in 1885. The palace got its name Sheesh Mahal from its adorned mirror work and thus it also named as Palace of Mirror. The walls of the exquisite palace are ornamented with beautiful murals and paintings, which depicts the stories of Indian epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana. Life history of Rama Ram Singh and other former rulers can also be found in the paintings of the Sheesh Mahal.

How to Reach

The Ramnagar Palace is located 10 km from Udhampur. You can easily reach this short drive by hiring a taxi. The distance between Ramnagar and Udhampur is also 10 minutes by train.

Udhampur is 53 km away from Jammu, which is the main railhead for Jammu and Kashmir. Approximately one hour is required for this journey. Jammu and Udhampur have no airports. The nearest airport to Udhampur is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which is 531 km away.
