Masjid Syed Shab is an important pilgrimage destination in Jammu and Kashmir, which is situated at the base of a hillock named as Anichteep in Martand Plateu. This mosque was built to commemorate the Saint Syed Mohammed Inayat-ullah Qadri Samnani. He came to Kashmir in 1528 AD from Shaman City of Central Asia to spread the spiritual message. At the age of 75, he was died on 27th January in 1587 AD. His corpse was buried in the proximity to the mosque. This site is regarded as the most sacred for the Muslims. The 8th of Shaban (Islamic Calendar), which is death anniversary of the saint, is considered to be the most auspicious day to visit the shrine.
