Kud is just 5 kms before Patnitop when driving from Udhampur, and is more than just a stopover. Kud boasts of having shops selling the best Patisa (a lovely Indian dessert also called Sohan Papdi/Soan Papdi). It is kind of a utility stopover with ample parking space and lots of shops like chemists, tea shops, and items most tourists purchase.

A picturesque landscape located at an altitude of 1,855 meters hints you about the weather change you should be geared up for. Being part of the lower Himalayan Range, the views of the valleys are awesome and worth spending a few hours if not more. The river Chenab flows in close proximity adding to the abundant beauty spread all over.

This is a marketplace no doubt, but much better than a Mall Road at any hill station. Not too crowded or unruly but enough tourists that complete the market looks. Many vehicle owners love to take a stroll and freshen their legs up.
